Summer Moukalled is a Research Study Assistant at the Center on Media and Child Health (CMCH). Summer holds a B.S. in Kinesiology and a B.A in Civic Engagement and Youth Development from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to joining the CMCH team, she was a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in a Q’eqchi Mayan village in southern Belize. There, she helped institute a rural family health initiative focused on maternal child health and non-communicable disease mitigation. Before the Peace Corps, Summer was the project manager at the Pediatric Physical Activity Laboratory at UMass Amherst, researching Childhood Obesity Prevention through community-based interventions.

Summer’s current work at CMCH includes examining how media and play affect children’s development and how adolescents with depression utilize media and technology to cope with their symptoms.
