How do books benefit kids?

As a teacher, you already know how important literacy skills are. Encouraging children and parents to read together at home is crucial since studies have shown that it helps children become literate and directly promotes success in school.

In fact, according to the International Reading Association and National Association for the Education of Young Children (1998), reading together at home is the most important family routine for helping children acquire skills and knowledge necessary for reading achievement. Studies have also shown that simply having access to books at home also predicts how well children read.
