Mike Griffith, president and CEO of Activision (makers of wildly popular video game Guitar Hero), proclaimed in a recent press conference that video games are "poised to eclipse all other forms of entertainment in the decade ahead."

While sales of music, movie tickets, and DVDs have all dropped in the past 4 years, video game sales have sky-rocketed.  Griffith cites the games' interactive nature as being more interesting for consumers.

One Response to “Video Games Poised for Takeover”

Being fairly into video games myself, I agree with what the article said about value.
To go to the movies for 2 hours with a friend and buy popcorn is $30 (or more if you need to pay a babysitter!)
So paying $60 for a video game that will take 50 hours to beat is a lot more entertainment value, dollar for dollar.
And in this economy, people want to get the most for their money in every area of their lives, entertainment included.
